Greater Victoria, BCFencing Rules

Fence companies in Greater Victoria

20 companies, alphabetical within each group. Nobody paid to be here, nothing is ranked, and we have inspected nobody’s work. Every site below was opened and read on 1 October 2026: it had to load, say it does fencing, and say it serves this region.

Before you call anyone, find out what your own municipality allows. A fence that is legal in Victoria can be illegal across the street in Oak Bay, and two of the thirteen set no height limit at all. Check your fence rules.

Common questions

Which of these is the best fence company?
We do not answer that, and be suspicious of any site that does. This list is alphabetical, nobody paid to be on it, and we have inspected nobody's work. What we can give you instead is the thing that is actually checkable before you call: what each company says it does, where it says it is based, and the bylaw your fence has to satisfy whoever builds it.
Why is the list shorter than Houzz's or the BBB's?
Because theirs are not lists of fence companies. The BBB's Fence Contractors category for this region returns hundreds of results whose first page is painters and restoration firms. Houzz counts 145 for Victoria and 87 for Langford on the same loose basis, behind ads. We opened every site and kept the ones that load, say they do fencing, and say they serve this region.
Why are landscapers on the list at all?
Because in this market they build fences, and a homeowner who calls one is not making a mistake. But they are grouped separately, because a landscaper who builds fences and a company that does nothing else are different purchases and you should know which one you are phoning.
Do you take money from these companies?
Not for being on this list — placement is not for sale and the order is alphabetical. We are paid only when a homeowner asks us to pass their request to one vetted partner, and that partner pays a referral fee. None of the companies here is a partner by virtue of being listed.
What should I check before hiring any of them?
Two things this site can tell you. First, that the fence they are quoting is legal where you live — thirteen municipalities, thirteen different rules, and two of them have none. Second, ask who is calling BC 1 Call before the post holes are dug: locating buried services before excavation is the contractor's duty under WorkSafeBC OHS 20.79, not yours.
